Intentional Living by John C. Maxwell [Book Review]

It’s time once again for my monthly (errrr maybe quarterly) John C. Maxwell book review! This week I finished up Intentional Living , one of John’s newer books that was released just before No Limits.

Yeah I’m a big Maxwell fan as you have gathered by now. I have dozens upon dozens of his books and quite a few that are still on my ‘to be read’ book shelf. So expect another review of one of his books in a few months 🙂

Intentional Living is a book that John said was his most rewarding and most difficult book to write. He goes over a lot of personal stories and shares with readers how to live intentionally, which means to make a difference with your time on earth. This is much more than a leadership book, it’s a life plan. A very detailed one at that…

The book is broken up into 4 sections…

Section 1 “I Want To Make A Difference”

Section 2 “Doing Something That Makes A Difference”

Section 3 “With People Who Make A Difference”

Section 4 “At A Time That Makes A Difference”

John’s ability to share his experiences with readers is second to none. I know you may have heard this before with any John C. Maxwell review, but it feels like he’s in the room talking with you directly as you read.

The chapters are about 20 pages or so each, and while that can seem to drag on, his technique of breaking points up makes the read not only enjoyable but very rewarding.

A big chunk of the middle of this book is dedicated to putting people first and then building the relationships with those people. No matter how many times I read lessons like this, I’m always reminded that I’m not doing as good a job as I could in my relationships.

I really did value the lessons John shared about working with people and growing with them. These are points that any business leader must be reminded of consistently.

This is the perfect companion book to No Limits, and I’m pretty sure John wrote both of them with that in mind.

Both books, but this one specifically deals with making a difference in your life by bringing people up and serving them first! There is a lot of spirituality and John isn’t shy about proclaiming his faith as a big part of who he is. I not only appreciated that but applaud it as well.

Once again, Mr. Maxwell delivers. And this book can truly show you how to make a difference in other people’s lives and live with true intention. We just need to get started today 🙂
