The School of Greatness – Chapters 4, 5 & 6

We’re really into it now! This past weekend I rolled up my sleeves and dove head first into chapters 4 , 5 and 6 of The School of Greatness and the lessons within it.

Lewis Howes (the author) does a fantastic job of combining real life examples as well as his own experiences to get his messages across.

For example in Chapter 4, he talks about his brother. I mean, talk about close to home. And the situation that his whole family had to deal with when his older brother went to prison. After he got out, he went on to become one of the most well known jazz violinists in the world. Talk about hustle!

He didn’t let any excuse of barrier get in his way. He turned an adversity into an advantage and HUSTLED to become great. It’s a very cool story that Lewis obviously has a first hand account of.

We then visit chapter 5 which was ‘Master Your Body’.

O.K. again, the disclaimer is, if I start telling you guys how to live a healthy life, run away! I’m hardly what we could call the picture of health but my ‘vision’ for reading this book is to lose 30 lbs in 3 months. 10 lbs a month. So while I’m not a great CURRENT example of how to live healthy, hopefully this book guides me in the right direction.

Which is exactly what chapter 5 does. Lewis states, without a sound body, the mind cannot operate at it’s full capacity. Makes sense to me…So off I go to become GREAT and lose some weight!

And finally, chapter 6 dove right into the meat of the problem with most of us…Putting positive habits into practice.

Let’s be honest, this is a huge stumbling block for most of us and Lewis breaks it down to a science on how we don’t need to revolutionize the process. Start with your vision, adds up some hustle and break it down into baby steps.

He even states, something as simple as making ones bed every morning, will change our lives……So…..

Seems simple enough…Bed has been made! (Disclaimer…My wife is pregnant so there are like 17 pillows on the bed…It may still be messy for some of you professional bed makers but dang…It’s a huge step for me LOL And please don’t let her know I posted this picture….She’d kill me if she knew I took a picture of our bed….:) )
