The Greatest Investment You Will Ever Make…

I’ve been in this business for about 20 years, give or take a year. I’ve been pitched investment ideas, get rich quick schemes, MLM opportunities, home study courses, offline conferences but nothing and I mean nothing comes close to my most valued investments…My books!

(3 of the 5 book cases in my home office…And yes, I’ve read 99% of them!)

My library is something very special to me!

It’s my opportunity to get mentored by John C Maxwell on topics of leadership. To learn sales secrets from Brian Tracy and Jeffrey Gitomer. To understand the immense power the social media with Gary Vaynerchuk. Learn marketing from Seth Godin. Study the power of fascination with Sally Hogshead. Personal development with Tony Robbins and Darren Hardy. Learn more about Christianity with C.S. Lewis…I can go on and on. I get to meet with these men and women every single day because I read their BOOKS!

I know, it’s a very weird thing to say in 2016…But I’d rather lay on my couch with a Rich Dad, Poor Dad book by Robert Kiyosaki than watch re-runs of Family Guy on Netflix.

Silly I know. Maybe even a bit old school…

However nothing has returned a bigger investment for my dollar than a trip to the local bookstore. And yes, I still go to the bookstore! I only buy from Amazon when the local Canadian stores don’t carry what I’m looking for. But back to my books…

You learn from the masters of their profession. You experience their wins and their losses. They teach you how to be better, grow more and experience better results from not only your business but also your life in general. And it doesn’t cost $10,000 an hour for their consulting fees to do it…A book might be $20 and you will get valuable lessons immediately…Given you actually put what they write about into ACTION of course but that’s a whole different topic 😉

In 2016 it’s so easy to get distracted, we live in a world of 140 characters or less but invest your time, and money into a good book and you will start to see the pay offs immediately!

What are you reading right now? I’d love to get your recommendations…

  1. John! I have followed you since 2008 and I have to admit, you have a big heart for traffic exchange people. And books is something I don’t read that much, because I love surfing and listening to the audio. 4 years ago I was diagnozed with schizophrenia (mind disorder) and now everything is new to me. Thank you for your kind and insightful words. Kuddos!

  2. Hi Jon I love how you enjoy reading books. And I think it’s really important to do even in the day and age. My Mom loved her books also. I love that about you. You can learn allot as you have told us by reading. I read allot now on the Internet and don’t buy books. Do you think you learn more from reading on paper as to electronic reading? do you think there is a difference? I Know that writing pen to paper is much different than typing. so I wonder if reading from a paper back is better? Thanks Jon.
PS. If I miss you shows it’s because I have this 30 hour a week job in addition to Adkreator. So don’t feel hurt if I don’t make it sometimes. I will try to stop in when I can. I stop into legacy when I can, too.

    1. Nah, I mean it’s what works best for you. Andrew mentioned above that he likes the audio….It’s whatever media you use, that works best for you.

I myself, love printed books. Actually can’t stand digital copies / e-Readers etc lol

  3. Nice set up Jon. You should start doing videos standing in front of your bookcases. Like Tai Lopez does lol. If I were going to recommend a book to you. I would say Quiet Strength by Tony Dungy

    1. Ha ha ha ha Yeah man, that’ll make me much more professional lol

      Nice, thanks for the recommendation

  4. Hi Jon! I have never been much of a reader ( even though my mom could read 50 books to my 1 lol ) One of my goals I made in January was to read at least 2 books ( besides my Bible) I enjoy the guessing numbers for a book on #Plus1Daily. I now have 2 books , (#11) The Purple cow and ( #21) The Entrepreneur Roller Coaster.. Thank you again for these books.. and Yes I am reading.. slowly, but reading.
