I love to read, that shouldn’t be a secret anymore….One thing I’ve always wanted to create was a serious book club for people interested in personal growth and business.
I’ve tried it a few times. And while it started off with some great promise, it never really caught on. The reason? Simple. Me!
I got lazy, I never followed up with the reviews and people kinda gave up on me and for good reason. But it’s still this burning passion I have…Talk about books, talk about what I learned and how we can put it into practice.
So at the beginning of the year, I talked about this crazy idea to start a ‘book club / university of self-education’ and I made a promise. Every single week, I would do a book review and share with readers the book I was currently reading and what I thought about it.
Lately, I can’t help but think….I’ve tackled that ‘lazy’ part of my DNA with doing a review each and every week, but now…How can I combine that with making it a sort of book club / group of like minded book fanatics.
I’ve got a game plan and I think this will add so much value to this idea and to this blog.
The DNA of Plus 1 still remains….Be better at sunset than you were at sunrise, but we add the book club element to it.
Here’s what I’m thinking;
– Every Sunday, we do the book review post. I will add a video to the book review but also, let you know which book I’ll be reading the upcoming week.
– Throughout that week, the content of Plus 1 Daily will be focused on what we’re learning in the book. Actually putting the advice into action.
– I will set up a day, maybe Tuesdays or Thursdays where we can get together in a conference room or on Facebook and discuss the book together as well.
A good idea? Bad idea?
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this…Because I’m kinda done lying to myself…My passion is books. It truly is. I literally dream about them (it might actually be a sickness) so maybe this even becomes a support group for book fanatics as well lol

I absolutely love this idea. Reading is one of my passions and would love to participate in this. Sometimes my life is so busy that I put off reading, thinking I will get to it “later.” Well, now is the time to get back into the game (so to speak). I am definitely in!
Let’s do this! 🙂
Awesome sauce 🙂 Thanks for the comments Jenn!
I think it’s a great idea! Plus this way, you’re not responsible for dragging everyone along. If they want to read the book, they can grab it and take part. If they want to read a book that you might not be reading the next week, they can sit out for a week etc. The ONLY thing… most people don’t read a book a week lol I know you’re not most people, but a lot of people might have a hard time keeping up with the book a week pace.
I’m super excited for this! You’ve always recommended really awesome books! 😀
Yeah…..One a week is pretty quick….But heck, I’m doing 2 a week right now….If I can do, anyone can LOL (That’s my attempt at firing people up!!!!!!) lol
It for sure can be done! I do it often. I say give a go lol why not? You read amazing books & people will love what you bring to the table.
Thanks Winter…Means alot 🙂
And hey, I still need your mailing addy lol
Oh yeah totally forgot! I’ll Skype it to you. Thanks again for the book gift, I was about to buy it because you loved it so much! 🙂
I think it’s a great idea. Something new and different. I’m up for it. 🙂
nice, thanks Carl!
Like me, essential at all levels, day to day and extra interests.
Thoughts for you. Where to start for newbies? (Not one).
Time poor, but value, is hidden in feedback and threads.
Doing this club building in another niche’, non-pecuniary (I choose, morally) at the moment. Is working, keeping momentum hard. Avoiding cliques’ even harder.
Looking forward to this,
LOL exactly! Sunnyyyyyyyyyy look at your beautiful face!
That is a great idea.
