Stop Telling! Start Showing & Take Some Action!

Don’t you just wish, more people on your team took action?

Doesn’t just annoy you that you send an email to your customers and lists yet no one seems to purchase the tool you are recommending to them?

Are you tired of being around Negative Nancies and Debbie Downers?

If only there was a way to be around positive people, get positive results and live in a positive world!!!!

If only….

I’ve begun to read Jon Gordon’s new book The Power of Positive Leadership this week and if you know me, you’ll know how big a fan of Jon’s that I am. So when this book FINALLY made it to my part of the world, I jumped in my car, drove to the bookstore in the suburbs and picked it up.

The first few chapters of this book detail how we can finally be rid of all the negativity we see in our lives. Jon made a crazy claim when he stated…We should be the change we want to see!

Insane right?

Heaven forbid we actually take some personal responsibility in our lives. But all joking aside, this is a huge message.

We need to lead by example and start to broadcast positivity in all areas of our lives. And not that fake kind of wishy washy positivity either. That stuff can be seen from a mile away. And the question would be…What do we have to be positive about? I mean it’s easy for ‘others’ to say to remain positive but what about the rest of us? It’s a struggle!

My good friend Nick Grimshawe had a great bit of content where he talked about the importance of a gratitude journal!

Want to see how much we have to be thankful for? Start a gratitude journal and begin your day coming up with at least 3 things you have going for you in your life. The more you do this (hmmmm that’s a really good Plus 1 right? Write in your gratitude journal everyday!) you will start to see how much there is to be thankful for. This will help you ‘broadcast’ positivity each and every day to everyone around you.

Your teams. Networks. Your customers. Maybe your family. Your communities!

If we want to see the change, we need to BE the change. Start your day with some gratitude and watch your life change for the better.

  1. We all have negative things that happen to us daily. However, when I started acknowledging to myself of all the positives, big and small, that happens daily and giving thanks for the good and the bad, I found my attitude started to change for the better. There’s actually more positive happening then negatives, but from habit, only recognized the bad and not the good. I’m less stressful now that I no longer dwell on the negatives. I will walk away from negative discussions. We need to try and find the lesson when something negative happens and how to use it to make a change for the good. Thanks for sharing Jon.

    1. Very true sir. We really do seem to let the bad outweigh the good. When in fact, we have so much to be thankful for.

Thanks very much for the comments!
